The Renfrewshire Affordable Credit Alliance (RACA) was delighted to host our first post-pandemic events today direct to the public. We know it may still feel uncomfortable coming out from the safety of our own homes back into social spaces again and – that is ok. It is daunting to be flung back into spaces that were closed to us for so long. We want to be part of the recovery from emotional and social isolation and loneliness, and offer a chance for people to come together and digitally upskill their knowledge around money management.
The Tea and Tech –Money events held today at Renfrew Town Hall and the Tannahill Centre brought together providers of financial services and members of the public to hear about managing their money online. We were delighted to have Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership Health Improvement Team representative Nicola Bissett who joined the event digitally. We worked together and pre-recorded a great introductory video. This provided a warm welcome and it helped to set the tone of the day perfectly.
Kicking off the day we heard from Paula from Right Way Credit Union about their security with their online processes and then Chris Bennett from Fair For You spoke about their online services and trust. Barclays Community Banking team joined us also to talk about the latest online fraud and got interactive with the guests. In addition, we had support from Scotcash – Approachable Finance, Johnstone Credit Union and Gavin Newlands MP dropped by too. Thank you to Gavin and to everyone who supported the day and came along.
We had some spare sandwiches going spare today which went to the fantastic Street Stuff buddies – a partnership programme amongst Renfrewshire Council, St Mirren Football Club, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue and Engage Renfrewshire.
