One Week & One Year On at RACA

27th November 2021

Yvonne Hughes, RACA’s dedicated Affordable Credit Officer and Cassie who is the Digital Marketing Volunteer, write this week’s blog.

Yvonne has been with RACA for one week

A week in already and it has of course flown by. There is everyone still to meet, but I have attended very useful events, including the Our Children Forum chaired by a great organisation called KlasCare.

My background is in the Third Sector where I worked for a national charity in the policy and comms team. I covered Scotland so it is refreshing to cover Renfrewshire only where I will be a passionate advocate for affordable credit, community lending and I will continue with RACA’s support of the illegal moneylending campaign.

I will be out in the community very soon and I want to hear from you, to listen and be guided by you or your groups’ needs. Contact me directly yhughes@engagerenfrewshire.com with subject heading Blog!

Cassie has volunteered with RACA for one year!

I was delighted to start helping RACA in November 2020. My background is in marketing, and, following the Covid-19 lockdown, I realised the importance of giving back and volunteering.

The past year has been an amazing learning curve as I’ve had the opportunity to discover the negative impact that high-interest credit can have. The pandemic has increased money worries for many and it’s more critical than ever to ensure everyone understands that there are better borrowing options out there.

RACA’s aim is to share the variety of affordable credit options available throughout Renfrewshire. Working with a range of local organisations, we want to ensure that everyone – no matter their income level – has better options to help reduce the risk of falling into debt. It has been a pleasure to volunteer with the RACA team and play a small part in spreading this message.
